Ganz einfach

Einwandfreie Arbeit Wolfgang !

These may be of assistance to anyone who is thinking of having a cam gear machined to make it adjustable.
I know they are for a twin cam engine, but the idea is exactly the same.
I found these drawings on the WWW quite some time ago, these are not my work, my apologies if they are from someone on this forum
The gears available from Kent are aluminium (very light) and nicely anodised

I have a Kent alloy gear on two of my cars, the gear on the 128 has done over 100,000km in the last 10years, and has worn some of the anodising off, but the alloy is untouched. I believe they use a very good quality alloy and heat treat it for durability.
They are very necessary when you start to develop a lot of HP.... a good example I have, is one engine I built up for a customer who does club type competition. On the dyno, a 1 degree change in camshaft position made 10hp difference at the back wheels!!!! (I finished that session with 118hp at the rear wheels from 1500cc)
They are not cheap, but worth the money.

Andreas, I'm not really sure how many X19's there are in Australia, but it wouldn't have been very many in total.
We never received the X19 till 1977 the first time, then only as a 'serie speciale' and only in three colours! Blue metallic, Green metallic and Orange mettalic.....
In 1979 we would have got the 1500 engine (like the rest of the world) but someone got something wrong, as the engine didnt meet some regulation.... because it hadn't been tested by the authority over here.
So the shipment of 100 cars to be sold, sat in storage till 1982! (I have one of these cars)
So Fiat made some special X19's just for Australia from 1979 till 1981, we had the series two body, but with 1300 4 speed powerplant! There are mostly this model on the road today
When the 1500 was finally approved and tested, the cars that sat waiting for nearly 3 years were sold first, and the "new" batch of 1982 models sold after. These were all carburettor engined cars.
Here in Western Australia (not many people but a very very large area) we only had 51 (1500 5 speed) 1982 cars registered as new (a friend in the police licensing told me this once)
There was no model year in 1983 1984 or 1985, as it took a couple of years to sell all the cars that were imported before, I have been told (but cant confirm) that only 500 of the 1500 engined cars were sold new Australia wide.
Then we had the 'Bertone' in 1986 and 1987... but they were very slow sellers, as the price had more than doubled from the earlier model. I believe the number of Brtone models is less than 100 across the continent.

Sehr interessant
Hallo Steve,
sehr interessant was Du da schreibst.
Danke

I can't understand a word of German...
Luckily for me Bablefish translates the words (more or less) and all I have to do is to try link the words that have been translated correctly and form an intelligent sentence from it
Seems to be working so far, and we can understand each other, thats pretty cool
I'm glad you guys can read English, it's taught as a second language in your schools isnt it?
Spare parts for Fiats are getting harder to get Yes.... we haven't had new Fiats sold over here since 1989....
Fortunately for me I grew up in a Fiat family, my Dad was a Fiat dealer for many years (since 1957) until they withdrew from our market, he still runs a business for repair and spare parts, though he is semi retired now.
I also ran a business for nearly 10 years doing repairs and restorations on Fiats / Lancias called "The Fiat Factory"
Yes I will gladly get you some pictures of my cars.... '71 128, '77 X19 (with 2l lancia engine), '82 X19 1500, '68 850 coupe, '69 850 sedan, '78 124 spyder (restoration)
here is a link to some early pictures of my twin cam conversion....you may find this interesting

Hi Steve and howdy downunder,
have just edited your post that the pictures appear immediately (You can do it yourself by pressing on the Img-Button, then typing the URL and afterwards pressing again the Img-Button).
Yes, english is the second language we learn at school, but not everybody has practise after finishing school so it gets rusty (just like good ol fiats, eh
) Babblefish is a real good invention though the actual sense of a translation can often only be guessed
Nice racecar, but the shifting linkage looks really like a pain to get aligned
As far as engine conversion most people here prefer the uno turbo swap, because it is a natural evolution and does not force to change the tranny.
Regards
Matthias
