This thread was in response to a posting about the bravo 16v 1.6 engine, and if the head will interchange, doing some research (using piston and gasket catalogues) we have found some interesting information.
From the info we can find, it looks like the final production run of the "usual" head bolt pattern sohc engine used a block that was designated M202, this was a 1.6 sohc engine.
It seems that there is a twin cam 16valve head to fit this, which would (with minor modification) fit the early style block as it has the same head bolt pattern.
from what we can determine the engine designation for this engine/head is M645, and was available on early production run Tipo 1.6 16v cars
The later style twin cam engines, as found in brava/bravo/palio etc, use a totally different head bolt pattern that is symetrical to the cylinders, and this carries over to the 1.8 (1747) ans 2.0 (1998) engines, this head will not fit the "regular" sohc engine, nothing lines up, head bolts, water jacket holes, or oil drain galleries.
Does anyone have anything further to add to this information?
oh.... and the 1500 exhaust valve is 33mm in diameter, whereas the 1300 exhaust valve head is 30.5mm or 31mm depending on year
Intake vale from a tipo 1.6 is 37.5mm head diameter and the 1300/1500 both use a valve which is 36mm head diameter
